Dr. Blevins is proud to serve families in the Spokane WA area.

Dr. Blevins works with parents to help them become the parents their child needs. Each child is different, even though they’re living in the same environment. They can have different temperaments, likes, and interests. Dr. Blevins specializes in child psychology, using a behavioral approach that focuses on parent and child attachment, reducing distress, and improving positive interactions by helping parents learn and use therapeutic play skills and discipline strategies. She specifically works with

• Young Children

• Preschoolers

• Parents with children of all ages

• Parents with children who have a developmental disability, such as autism

By supporting parents through parent training and coaching, Dr. Blevins helps families to overcome difficulties with attention, compliance, anxiety, mood, attachment, and hyperactivity. She adds on tailor made interventions to support each family and child with specific difficulties, like language deficits, or target behavior concerns, like darting away in public or aggression.

Each parent Dr. Blevins works with engages in tailored parent skills training as well as ongoing mindfulness and values orienting that leads to reduced parenting distress and renewed energy to devote to family time (and self-care!). She starts with skills building from Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, adds in specific interventions from Applied Behavior Analysis, and addresses parent stress and cohesiveness with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Through child therapy, you and your child can develop the tools needed to have a happy, calm relationship. Your child can gain the skills to have a happy, calm life. And you will gain the skills to advocate for your child out in the world.
